Make the Bear Ears:
Measure and Draw: Use the ruler to measure and draw two long strips, each ~1.5 inches wide. You can do this part yourself, or have your child help.
Cut: Cut along the lines to create two strips, each 11" x 1.5". Use child-size scissors if your child will be doing the cutting.
Trace: Trace two semi-circles on the remaining paper. The circular side of the scotch tape works well for this part! Your little one might enjoy learning how to trace around an object - or you can complete this step yourself.
Cut: Cut the semi-circles out. You should now have two long strips and two semi-circles.
Staple: Staple the two long stripes together to create one very long strip.
Tape: Add a piece of scotch tape along the backside of the staples, making a smooth surface to protect from any scratches when your child is using the headband. This is an easy step for a child to help with!
-
Staple: Wrap the paper around in a circle and staple again at the other end to form a circle. Add scotch tape to these staples as well to create a smooth surface to protect from scratches.
Note: You'll want to measure the headband on your child's head before stapling! You may need to cut some excess off before stapling, or possibly measure and cut a third strip to make the circle larger.
Some people may prefer to tape the ears onto the strips while they are still flat (before stapling into a circle). In this case, complete step 8 before step 7.
Finish: Tape the bear ears in place on the inside of the headband. Done! They are now ready to wear and enjoy!
