Easy Preschool Easter Egg Craft + FREE Printable Template!

This easy painted Easter egg craft requires only a few materials and is perfect for practicing fine motor skills. Plus, we've included a free printable egg template for you!

If you're looking for a fun way to decorate Easter eggs without the stress and mess, we have the perfect craft for you! In this post, I'll be sharing one of my favourite easy, low-prep Easter activities for little learners. Hang them as decorations after drying, or use them as cute Easter cards for loved ones!

Gather These Items:

  • Washable paints in a variety of colours

  • Cotton swabs (Q-Tips)

  • Scissors

  • Printed egg templates or white cardstock/paper and pencil (see below for link to free template!)

  • Paper plate or other surface to hold paint

Make the Easter eggs:

1. Cut: Cut egg shapes out of white cardstock. You can draw these yourself, or click below to grab our free printable template!

If your little one is comfortable with scissors, you can have them cut. Or, you can prepare the eggs ahead of time for them.

2. Set up: Pour a few paint colours onto paper plate or other surface.

3. Paint: Demonstrate for your child how to use the cotton swabs to dab or spread paint to make designs on the eggs. Let them enjoy painting their eggs!

Optional: For added learning, have your child do some colour mixing! Use a cotton swab to mix red and blue to make purple, yellow and red to make orange, or blue and yellow to make green!

4. Dry: Let dry completely and hang as Easter decor! Alternately, you can write a sweet message on the back of the card and use them as Easter cards for loved ones!
